Our participants write to us showing their gratitude and appreciation. Please read their letters to see how the Rotary Burlington Music Festival inspires young musicians.

I and Amir would like to thank you and the other devoted people (volunteers, adjudicators, organizers, donors) for organizing such a wonderful music festival and a great Gala event. Your efforts and help throughout the whole festival from the beginning to that memorable night is highly appreciated.
Thanks, Amir & Homeyra

We had a wonderful time at the Grand Festival Concert yesterday evening. It exceeded our greatest expectations. It was so well organized, so joyful and supportive, with excellent performances by everyone, from the scholarship recipients, to the master of ceremonies, to all the speeches, to the guest performers! Thank you for inviting John Fanning to perform, and the emminent Valerie Tryon as an adjudicator. Our piano teacher has the utmost respect for her. Mr. Kevin McMillan made a wonderful and encouraging speech. It struck right to the heart!

Our son Christopher Siu was one of the students selected to represent Rotary Burlington at the OMFA Provincial Competition. Could I trouble you to tell me the dates of that Festival, or even better, the dates of the piano portion? The reason is, Christopher is planning to take his piano exam in June, and we need to schedule his exam online in the beginning of January/07. I want to make sure that the date we choose does not conflict with the OMFA Provincials

I was also hoping for clarification on one other point. Rule #6 states that"Specific Scholarship winners are not eligible for the same award in consecutive years". Does the "Festival Stars" scholarship qualify as as a specific scholarship? If yes, when you state "consecutive years", does that mean a student will not be eligible the following year, but will again be eligible 2 years later? This question is for my interest only, so I can understand how this festival is run.

Thank you so much for all the scholarships and awards presented to Christopher. It is such a huge encouragement to him and us. We really appreciate all the time, effort and expertise put in by all the volunteers and committee members. Congratulations on an extremely successful Festival!

Yours truly, Ada Siu

To the Irish Family,
Thank you very much for your family's generous donation of $1000 to the Rotary Music Festival, to provide the "Mark Irish Memorial Scholarship" for young musicians. As you know, I was the winner of this scholarship. I plan to spend the money on various music related and flute-related equipment and accessories. More specifically a lot of it will go towards recordings and sheet music of the orchestral and solo flute literature.

These will help to improve and increase my 'musical vocabulary' and to augment my knowledge and understanding of various styles of music and flute playing. Also, I am saving money to upgrade my piccolo, and your generous donation will go a long way towards that goal.

I also greatly appreciate having had the chance to make you acquaintance on the night of the festival; it means a lot to know that there are people out there that support the arts in such a tangible way. The musical world needs more warm-hearted, generous people like you, and I hope you continue to do your good deeds in the community and in the world.

It is people like you who set a standard that the rest of us remember and try to live up to for the rest of our lives.

Once again, a heart-felt thank you.
Christopher James
